Roland is a passionate attorney and founder of Blackman Law Group, PLLC, with over 15 years of success in civil litigation, employment law, and business counsel. His career began as an Honors Attorney at the U.S. Department of the Interior (“DOI”) and was immediately assigned to the Agency’s litigation team for Deepwater Horizon, a 20-billion-dollar environmental disaster settlement.  As a former senior attorney in the Office of the Solicitor at the DOI, he zealously defended the federal government in employment and labor law matters, advised federal law enforcement on matters spanning criminal and civil investigations, whistleblowing, First Amendment, administrative law, and policymaking. While at DOI, Roland took a hiatus to work as a criminal prosecutor in the United States Attorney’s Office in the District of Columbia. While there he managed and executed litigation strategy for over 150 criminal cases, and was routinely successful in trials. Known for his strategic and thoughtful approach, Roland has counselled executives, attorneys, HR leaders, churches, and small businesses on complex legal challenges, from workplace disputes to insurance claims and corporate strategy.
